Gay priest Krzysztof Charamsa: 'This is the will of God'

A senior priest at the Vatican who has revealed he is gay and in a relationship has said every gay person is "a son of God".

Poland-born Krzysztof Charamsa, 43, said he wanted to challenge the Church's "backwards" attitude to homosexuality.

His revelation came on the eve of a major meeting that will define the Catholic Church's teaching on family.

The Vatican called his actions "very serious and irresponsible" and stripped him of doctrinal responsibilities.
