Migrants held in the rain near Slovenian border

Tensions are building among thousands of migrants heading north through Balkan states as their route to Western Europe is stalled by new controls.

Slovenia has warned that it cannot accept an unlimited number of migrants entering its territory unless its northern neighbour, Austria, says it will let them through.

Croatia has called on Slovenia to accept at least 5,000 migrants per day after Hungary closed its border to them.
