Why is Turkey election important?

Turkey goes to the polls on Sunday - for the second time in five months. The governing AK Party is hoping to win back its majority.

The faltering economy, state of democracy and Syria's refugee crisis are among the main issues for voters.

But after renewed violence by PKK Kurdish militants and attacks by Islamic State, security has also become a key issue.
