Paris attacks: Salah Abdeslam 'could turn himself in or go to Syria'

A man from Brussels, who was a friend of Salah Abdeslam, the chief suspect following the Paris bombings, has told the BBC that Salah's options are to "turn himself in" or "go to Syria".

The man, who did not want his identity to be known, told the BBC's Damian Grammaticas that he was also a close friend of Salah Abdeslam's brother Brahim. He said Brahim "wasn't obsessed" with Syria and "talked about getting married, having kids, but not blowing himself up".

130 people were killed in the Paris attacks and more than 360 wounded. Brahim blew himself up outside a cafe, injuring three people and killing himself.

Police in Belgium have mounted a number of raids and searches over the past two weeks and have charged five people with terror-related offences.
