Cologne attacks: Police chief removed following NY Eve attacks

Cologne's police chief Wolfgang Albers has been placed in temporary retirement over his handling of scores of sexual assaults on women in Cologne on new year's eve.

The state interior minister said the move would help "restore public trust in the police".

The police's handling of the night's events has been sharply criticised and the case has sparked a debate about Germany's open door policy on migrants.

Jenny Hill reports from Cologne.
