US general on EU referendum: Out vote could harm Nato

A senior US military commander has warned that if Britain leaves the European Union, it could have a negative impact on the Nato alliance.

Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, who is the head of the US Army in Europe, said he was worried about the outcome of the referendum.

Campaigners to leave the EU say doing so would have no impact on Britain's position in Nato.
