Berlin market trader: We have to still enjoy Christmas
A Christmas market trader, who witnessed the lorry attack which left 12 people in Berlin dead, says people have to still “live Christmas as it’s supposed to be”.
Sofiane, 29, said he was “supposed to be one of the victims” as his stall was originally meant to be on the side that got hit. Its position was changed “at the last minute”.
He told BBC Radio 5 live's Nick Garnett that his “thoughts” were with the victims and their families and that people should show the attackers they would continue to "live [their] lives".
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who laid flowers at the scene of the attack on Tuesday, vowed to punish those responsible "as harshly as the law requires".
