Extreme race on frozen lake not for faint-hearted

An endurance skating and cycling race has been held on Lake Baikal in the Irkutsk region of Russia.

Participants - more than 40 Russians and 30 Dutch nationals - faced strong winds, extreme cold and unpredictable ice on the world's deepest freshwater lake.
