Chechen gay men 'flee for their lives'

It is believed that more than 60 gay men have fled the Russian republic of Chechnya, following what they describe as an ongoing campaign of persecution by the security forces.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has denied the claims, and is supported by the Kremlin who say there is no evidence to support the "phantom" claims.

One man told the BBC's Sarah Rainsford he was held for over a week during which time he was beaten and subjected to torture.
