Moldova election: Pro-EU opposition candidate Maia Sandu wins

President-elect Maia Sandu has spoken of her commitment to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and wide-scale corruption in Moldova, one of the poorest countries in Europe.

Ms Sandhu, a former World Bank economist confirmed her desire to join the European Union, despite the country's close relations with Russia, in an interview with the BBC's Steve Rosenberg.
