Police 'gain control' of Rio shanty town
Brazilian police have deployed armoured vehicles in a poor area of Rio de Janeiro to stem a wave of violence that's killed at least 30 people in the past five days.
Clashes erupted when police moved in against drug barons who had regrouped in Vila Cruzeiro, in the north of Rio, after being driven out of other local slums.
The BBC's Julia Carneiro says the violence was a reaction to a new security policy.
