Protecting Mexico's Mayan and Aztec treasures

Mexico has one of the richest archaeological heritages in the world thanks to the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilisations.

But the looting of archaeological sites and trafficking of ancient relics means much of the heritage is disappearing - smuggled and sold abroad for thousands of dollars.

The ancient city of Teotihuacan, north of Mexico City, is probably the best known archaeological site in Mexico.
