Pope receives a 'rapturous reception' in Mexico

Thousands have turned out to see Pope Benedict XVI in the Mexican city of Guanajuato, where he is due to speak later.

Meanwhile the Pope is holding talks with President Felipe Calderon of Mexico on the first full day of his visit to the country.

It is the pontiff's first visit to Mexico, the world's second most populous Catholic country after Brazil, where the Church has been struggling to maintain its influence.

The BBC's Will Grant spoke to BBC World's Adnan Nawaz from Guanajuato.
