Cuba reopens sugar mills after price rise

Cuba was once the world's biggest sugar exporter, but the industry was devastated in the 1990s with the disappearance of its big buyer, the Soviet Union.

Cane-fields were overrun by weeds, many mills fell to ruin and more than 100,000 people lost their jobs.

But sugar prices are on the rise again so Cuba has started reopening its old mills in a bid to recover some of its lost industry.
