Rio de Janeiro violence: The city's new struggles

Just months after Rio hosted the Olympic Games, the focus is on the state's huge debt and a financial crisis that has been hitting public services hard, from policing to education.

Public servants have been demonstrating against austerity measures and the notorious City of God favela has seen a surge of violence, with four police officers and seven young men dying there last weekend.
