Clashes erupt in Cairo's main square

There have been violent clashes in Cairo between supporters of President Mubarak and protesters demanding his immediate resignation.

Many of those in Cairo's main square remain angry that the President said he will resign but that he intends to stay in office until September.

Earlier this morning the Egyptian army had intervened telling the demonstrators that their demands have been heard and they should help the country return to normal.
