Egypt's President Mubarak: 'I did not intend to stand again'

President Mubarak of Egypt has told the nation he is not going to be a candidate in September's presidential election.

As thousands of people gathered in Cairo calling for him to step down, Mr Mubarak said his first responsibility was to restore calm.
