Egypt eases blockade at Gaza's Rafah border

Egypt has eased the restrictions at its border with Gaza, ending a blockade that began in 2007 when Hamas took power in the territory.

Women, children and men over 40 will be allowed to cross freely, while men aged between 18 and 40 will still need a permit.

The move - strongly opposed by Israel - comes some three months after Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak lost power.

The BBC's Jon Donnison reports from the crossing.
