Thousands flee northern Syria as crackdown widens

Thousands of people are reported to be fleeing the town of Maarat al-Numan in northern Syria, amidst fears that the army is preparing for a crackdown there.

But in nearby Jisr al-Shughour, the Syrian government say things are getting back to normal after troops and tanks moved in on Sunday, and it called on people to return to their homes there.
