Demonstrators in Damascus call for end to oppression

This amateur video was uploaded to You Tube in May.

Written commentary that came with the video said 250 young men and women took part in a demonstration in Arnoos Square.

The activists who uploaded the video also claimed that slogans such as 'stop the seige on our cities' were also shown on banners during the rally.

They say protesters were met with 'brutal crack down' by government security forces in plain clothes.

This footage cannot be independently verified but two sources from BBC Arabic confirmed it was taken in the Arnoos area of Damascus, in Syria.
