Syrian protests expected to get bigger during Ramadan

UN Security Council is expected to meet to discuss the worsening violence in Syria, which saw one of the bloodiest days on the streets of Syria since an anti-government uprising began more than four months ago.

Human rights groups say around 140 people were killed in the violence.

Both Britain and the United States have condemned the Syrian government's handling of the protests.

The BBC's Lina Sinjab in Damascus said the protests are expected to get bigger during Ramadan, despite the government crackdown.
