Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu: Talks are only option

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has voiced his support for Barack Obama's assertion that peace between Israel and the Palestinians can only come through negotiations between the two parties themselves.

In an address to the General Assembly earlier, the US president said that "peace will not come through statements and resolutions at the UN".

His comments came amid tensions in New York, where a Palestinian bid for UN membership has provoked strong criticism from Jerusalem.
