Abu Qatada 'won't be tortured' on return to Jordan

Radical Muslim cleric Abu Qatada would receive a fair trial if he returns to Jordan, the country's minister for legislative affairs has told the BBC.

The European Court of Human Rights blocked his deportation from the UK to Jordan to face charges of terrorism, because of concerns that evidence obtained by torture might be used against him.

But Ayman Odeh said the Jordanian constitution now contained guarantees ensuring "torture is prohibited".
