UN increases pressure on Syria

The international envoy, Kofi Annan, has told the UN General Assembly that while his peace plan has been accepted by Syria it is not being implemented.

He called for co-operation from a group that could look at a bridging the gap between the two sides in Syria and draw up a road map.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also expressed his deep frustration with the level of violence in Syria, warning of an imminent danger of civil war.
