Gunmen attack Syrian pro-government TV station
Gunmen have attacked the pro-government Syrian TV station, al-Ikhbariya TV, leaving several journalists and security guards dead.
Syrian TV described the attack, in the town of Drusha south of the capital Damscus, as an attempt by rebels to silence press freedom.
The BBC's Jim Muir in Beirut explains what status the television channel has in the country, and how the incident is being reported by the Syrian media.
