General Robert Mood makes UN pledge to Syria

The head of the UN's monitoring mission in Syria, General Robert Mood, has pledged they will not give up on the Syrian people.

Escalating violence in Syria forced UN observers to suspend patrols in June, as a peace plan brokered by international mediator Kofi Annan unravelled.

''We will not turn our eyes and ears away from your plight, and we'll continue our work to find new paths to political dialogue and peaceful resolution to the crisis,'' he said.
