Syria uprising: Mohammed Mursi's comments 'will have stung'
Egypt's president would "really have hurt" Iran when he compared the Syrian people's struggle with that of the Palestinians, the BBC's Jon Leyne has said.
Mohammed Mursi was addressing a summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (Nam) in Tehran when he prompted a walk-out by the Syrian delegation by saying Nam had an "ethical duty" to support the uprising.
Mr Mursi used his speech to tell delegates: "Our solidarity with the struggle of the Syrian people against an oppressive regime that has lost its legitimacy is an ethical duty as it is a political and strategic necessity."
