Syrian opposition denounces regime

In Syria, a meeting of authorised opposition parties has called for the removal of President Bashar al-Assad's government and an immediate ceasefire.

Groups at the meeting, which happened only with the blessing of the regime, re-iterated their opposition to the violence of the uprising, while also coming out firmly against foreign intervention in the crisis.
