Syrian National Council faces opposition unity choice
The Syrian National Council is facing a key decision on whether to join other groups in a more unified opposition.
Talks have begun in Doha, Qatar, about forming a 60 member leadership group, which would be recognised by around 100 countries as the sole legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
The BBC's Middle East correspondent Jim Muir said the SNC was wary of committing itself to the project, without clear guarantees that the new body would be given the support needed to tilt the balance against the regime.
