Gaza crisis: 'Israel has the right to defend itself'
Israel will continue its operation to "protect its people" from an "unacceptable situation", according to a spokesperson for the Israeli Army.
Lieutenant Colonel Avital Leibovich told the BBC's Ben Brown in Ashkelon that the country had the right to defend itself.
Israel mounted a huge attack on Gaza overnight, targeting dozens of locations. Later, Gaza militants targeted Tel Aviv with a missile but there were no casualties.
