Syria crisis: Sides battle for control of Aleppo airport

Aleppo, Syria's largest city, has been fought over to the point of stalemate since rebels launched an offensive there in July.

The city's airport is a key strategic target for rebels who feel that taking control of it will be a "fatal blow" to Syrian Army morale.

In al-Safira (or al-Safir), a small town in the Aleppo countryside, the BBC's Ian Pannell was told Syrians feel alone, and abandoned by the rest of the world.
