Turkey to pilot milk bank for mothers having trouble breastfeeding
Mothers in Turkey who are having trouble producing breast milk will soon have another way to feed their infants if a pilot being set up by the Health Ministry is successful.
The trial project, initially being run at a hospital in Izmir, will see the creation of a special milk bank for new mothers.
However it could face resistance as traditional Islam forbids marriage between people who have been fed with milk from the same woman.
