President Assad suggests Syria has received Russian arms
President Bashar al-Assad has suggested Syria may have received the first shipment of an advanced Russian air defence system.
Speaking to Hezbollah-linked al-Manar TV, he confirmed his administration was in "negotiations" with Russia about "many types of weapons".
"Part of these negotiations have been fulfilled and along with the Russians we are continuing to implement this contract."
Russia vowed earlier this week to go ahead with sending S-300 missiles
