G8 Summit: David Cameron outlines Syria peace plan

G8 leaders have overcome differences in position to agree a series of measures aimed at ending the Syrian conflict.

The US had already announced plans to offer direct military aid to the opposition while Russia is supplying arms to the ruling Assad regime.

Speaking after the two-day summit, UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced seven steps which all eight leaders had signed up to, including fresh humanitarian aid and increased diplomatic pressure to hold peace talks.
