Newborn elephant nursed by grandmother

The mother and the grandmother of a newborn Asian elephant at a zoo in Israel have both been seen nursing the new arrival, zookeepers say.

The grandmother, La Petite, who is also pregnant, has been taking over some of the duties of the calf's mother - even feeding the as-yet unnamed new arrival.

It is hoped that when La Petite's own calf arrives, she will take a step back from looking after her daughter's.
