Nabil Fahmy: 'The stand-off cannot continue endlessly'
The Egyptian foreign minister, Nabil Fahmy, has told the BBC that protests by supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi cannot continue "endlessly".
Thousands of protesters have continued their sit-ins in two major squares, despite earlier suggestions that the authorities would begin an operation to clear the camps before dawn.
They are seeking to secure the reinstatement of Mr Morsi.
Mr Fahmy said that every effort was being made to resolve the situation through dialogue, but that if any action was taken it would be within the law and by court order.
