UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on Egyptian leaders to engage in dialogue to try and resolve the ongoing turmoil in the country - which has recently led to hundreds of deaths.
Speaking at a news conference at UN headquarters in New York, Mr Ban said: "This is not the time for retribution. It is a time for reconciliation."
He also revealed that he had dispatched a representative to Cairo and called for ousted President Mohammed Morsi to be released.
