Syria crisis: Kuwait conference calls for 'urgent aid'
Half of Syria's population now urgently needs humanitarian aid, the UN Secretary General has said.
Ban Ki-moon was speaking at a donor conference in Kuwait to raise funds for the worsening humanitarian crisis.
It is the UN's biggest ever appeal for a single cause - asking for $6.5bn.
Human rights groups have accused the Syrian authorities of deliberately withholding aid from some districts.
