Egypt artist Hassan Al-Shark on overcoming expectations
Growing up in a poor village on the banks of the Nile in Upper Egypt, everyone assumed that Hassan Al-Shark would simply join the family business.
Instead, he confounded expectations by starting the village's first art school and going on to become one of Egypt's best known artists.
He spoke to the BBC about his journey from illiterate, artistically untrained boy to having his paintings displayed in art galleries around the world.
