Afghan suicide bomb: Inside hospital were victims treated

At least 42 people have been killed and dozens injured in a suicide attack at a busy market in eastern Afghanistan's Paktika province, local officials say.

They say the attacker drove a 4x4 vehicle into the market in Orgun district and detonated the explosives.

Most of the bodies recovered were women and children, and reports suggest entire families were killed.

Mohibullah Sameem, the governor of Pakitika Province said the attack was "against Islam and against humanity".

Karen Allen reports from the Italian Emergency Hospital in Kabul where victims are being treated.

Update 16 July 2014: The original figure in this report of 89 dead has been revised down in the light of new information from the Afghan defence ministry.
