Middle East crisis: Israeli government on Gaza shelter deaths
At least 13 people were killed and more than 200 injured when a UN-run school being used as a shelter in Gaza came under fire.
Palestinian families were in the school in Beit Hanoun, seeking shelter from Israel's offensive against Hamas militants.
An Israeli government spokesman told BBC Newsnight's Emily Maitlis it was not clear that Israeli fire was responsible.
Mark Regev said there was both Hamas fire and Israeli fire in the area at the time.
