Gaza crisis: John Kerry calls for seven-day ceasefire
US Secretary of State John Kerry has called for a seven-day ceasefire in the fighting in Gaza.
Mr Kerry said he was confident both sides in the conflict would agree to a humanitarian truce, but the details and terminology needed further negotiation.
More than 800 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its military offensive on 8 July with the declared objective of stopping Hamas firing rockets into Israel. Israel has lost 36 people.
