Amerli: Iraqi forces airlift residents from besieged town

Iraqi forces have managed to evacuate a number of residents from the besieged town of Amerli.

Some 15,000 minority Shia Turkmen in Amerli have been surrounded by Islamic State (IS) militants for two months.

The US carried out air strikes on IS positions, as the Iraqi army, Shia militias and Kurdish fighters struggle to break the siege.

US planes have also made humanitarian aid drops town, the Pentagon has said.
