Syrians 'traumatised' by fear of Islamic State fighters

The murder of David Haines by Islamic State militants is believed to have been carried out inside Syria - where IS is one of the groups engaged in fierce fighting against the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

Syria's deputy foreign minister has condemned the killing - but said the West's refusal to engage with President Assad in the fight against IS was a mistake.
