Egypt's foreign minister: Exclusive BBC interview

Egypt says the ideological fight against the extremists of the so-called Islamic State is even more important than the military fight on the battlefield.

In an exclusive TV interview with the BBC in London, Sameh Shukry said Egypt was providing the US-led Coalition with secret intelligence as well as religious and ideological support.

He denied that Egypt was becoming an even more repressive state than it was under President Mubarak and he insisted that three jailed Al-Jazeera journalists were being given a fair trial.

The BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner began by asking about last week's terrorist attacks in Sinai that killed over 30 people.
