Jerusalem synagogue: President Obama condemns attack
US President Barack Obama has condemned an attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem, saying "this is a tragedy for both nations, Israel as well as the United States".
The attack left four Israelis dead and eight injured after two men armed with a pistol and meat cleavers attacked worshippers.
Three of the victims were dual Israeli-US nationals, the US state department has confirmed, while the fourth was a dual Israeli-UK citizen.
President Obama urged both Israelis and Palestinians "to work together to lower tensions and to reject violence".
