Defence lawyer: Journalists will still have to stay in Egypt

The highest court in Egypt has ordered a retrial of three television journalists convicted of aiding the banned Muslim Brotherhood.

The announcement was made at a brief hearing in Cairo.

The three, who work for the Qatar-based television channel al-Jazeera, include a former BBC correspondent, Peter Greste.

They received sentences of between seven and 10 years at their original trial.

Defence lawyer Negad El-Boraie, representing Mohamed Fahmy, explained the latest developments to the BBC outside the court.
