Egypt blast: Cairo explosion hits Italian consulate
One person has died and several people have been injured in a powerful explosion in front of the Italian consulate in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
Security officials say a car bomb caused the blast and the casualties included two policemen.
The explosion destroyed the entrance and facade of the building.
Egyptian security forces have been battling Islamic militants, but the fighting has been mostly confined to the Sinai Peninsula.
Militants in Egypt have killed at least 600 police and armed forces personnel in the past two years.
