Iraqi government urged to lift siege on city of Falluja

Iraqi MPs have urged the government to lift the siege on the city of Falluja to allow urgently needed food and medicine to thousands of residents.

The city has been under the control of the so-called Islamic State group for two years and the army has been besieging it for six months in preparation for an all-out offensive.

The BBC has learnt that many residents have died of starvation and many others are surviving on grass and animal fodder.
