Thousands mourn Hezbollah commander at Beirut funeral

Thousands of people have mourned top Hezbollah military leader, Mustafa Amine Badreddine, at his funeral in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

In a statement on its al-Manar website, the militant group said he died in a large explosion near Damascus airport in Syria.

Hezbollah supports President Bashar al-Assad and has sent thousands of fighters into Syria.

Badreddine was a divisive figure accused of war crimes and killing the former Lebanese PM Rafiq Hariri in 2005, as Rami Ruhayem reports from Beirut.
